Kit comes with fuel/air mixture screw, new spring, washer, o-ring and self tapping screw to remove the smog plug. Kit form comes in handy for those who have disassembled their carb and lost the small parts or their O-ring has broken or parts have become rusty from water/ethanol. Clear instructions with pictures are also included. Fits all years KLR with factory carb.

One of the things you need to do the moment you get home with your new bike. Why? Because your KLR was set with a "general" setting at the lean most point in order to pass EPA regulations. This lean setting often causes lean miss surging at slow speeds and causes head temperatures to be too high. To install the mixture screw, simply remove the smog plug located on the bottom of your carb and remove the stock mixture screw then replace with the TPI adjustable mixture screw. Once installed, you can fine tune your mixture for your particular engine and altitude and make adjustments if you tour areas with different altitudes. Note: Some of the "info" given on the internet says to set mixture screw 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 or whatever turns out, depending who is describing the adjustment. Folks, this is a "general" setting. It may be close for the guy writing the article but is is not exact for everyone. Only by installing the Adjustable Mixture Screw, can you obtain a precision setting for your personal engine.
